Bands

Danni and the Lads:

You never know who else might turn up to join in with the lads… been turning out the tunes at Mc Carthys for many years. Danni on guitar and vocals, Matt on whistles, Ryan on piano, George on harmonica, Dan on base and vocals, cliffton on guitar and the list goes on…. these guys cover everything from Neil Young to Abba, in a whole new way not to be missed!!  Most Tuesdays.

Hank Wedel and Andre:

http://www.myspace.com/hankwedelandopenkitchen  A real threat to us at Mc Carthys is the return of Hank and Andre’s true blend of blues and rock. Total legends in Kenmare with Hanks unmistakingly rugged vocals and Hanks stunning world renowned sax, its really is a pleasure. The lads are recording a album together this summer in Mc Carthy’s, watch out for dates and more importantly check out the album when released…you wont be disappointed.

B Movie Monster:

http://www.myspace.com/bmoviemonsterband  From the word go, as B-Movie take to the stage (well, floor, actually) and proceed to lean impressively into a searing version of the EP’S lead track “Wrecked”: as sweet a tangle of guitars and fresh indie-rock suss as you’re likely to hear from a relatively unknown new band this year.  It’s clear they are on top form from the off and when a crowd start singing the first line from a song back at an unsigned group (as they do when singer/ songwriter Nathan Bartlett sings “welcome to my way of thinking” on “Soma City”) then you realise very quickly that you are in the presence of a band going places sooner rather than later.  B-Movie themselves are an excellent unit. In frontman Nathan they have a figure exuding quiet, friendly charisma as well as a songwriter of depth and skill; rhythm section Daniel Day (bass) and drummer Patrice Roelandt are tight and continually inventive throughout and lead guitarist Ruary McCaldin is quite a find, with his playing veering from Johnny Marr jangle to Pixies-style whiplash to Sonic Youth scream seemingly at will. And it bloody well works every time.

Dark Harbour:

Incredible local band made up of 2 brothers dan and niall sweeney on base and drums and vocals  joined with the amazing elenor healy on vocals guitar ect.. Dark Harbour pack out Pfs with there unique style, covering popular 80’s no.s in a whole new way so be prepared to rock the night away with a range of songs from Blondie to Michael Jackson and Fleetwood Mac to ACDC!

Bugsey & Eddie:

These 2 lads from Killarney have been gigging at PF’s for the past 4 years and never fail to fill the venue full of astonished punters wondering how they have missed gig-normous fame.  Bugsey on guitar and vocals, Eddie on base electric cello… these lads rock the nights away in a chilled & casual manner banging out some serious new and old covers… Not to be missed!
